We are fortunate to live in an area with an abundance of natural resources, cultural and educational opportunities and a relatively slow pace of life. Humboldt State University and College of the Redwoods are located here, as well as six local rivers and miles of beaches bordering the Pacific Ocean. Our population is graced by a high percentage of artists and craftspeople as evidenced by numerous galleries and studio tours. Farmers markets and festivals dot our annual calendar. Humboldt County is home to the yearly Kinetic Sculpture race, a spectacle that highlights both art and human driven machines over a span of three days in May. For a relatively small community, there is rarely a shortage of things to do and see here. Our real estate prices continue to be reasonable - by California standards - for property located in such a diverse, active community.
